What is Distilled Water | Info and Uses

Although often spoken about, there can be quite a lot of confusion about what exactly distilled water is? A lot of people think that simply by using a water filter you can get distilled water. This is wrong! Although water filters do certainly help to remove some of the impurities of tap water, the only sure way to get completely clean water is through distillation.

Now to explain this we're going to have to get a bit scientific. Elements exist in three different states; as liquids, as solids and as a gas. Water as an element is effected by temperature to deem what state it is in, so it can become ice if it's cool enough or steam if it's hot enough. To distill water it needs to be boiled, so that it becomes steam, now because water has a lower boiling point than the impurities it removes them. This might sound very complicated but it's actually a relatively simple process, imagine a pot of water with dirt in it. If that water is heated it will start to evaporate, leaving the dirt behind, if the steam is collected it will condense and form water again, without any of the dirt!

This is also how distilled water differs from using a filter, in a filter there is still bound to be some impurities that managed to get through the filter, no matter how advanced the filter is. By distilling water it's possible to remove pretty much anything, heavy metals, viruses, bacteria, and this is why a lot of our customers are choosing to switch to us, it guarantees that they are drinking the purest water possible from their water coolers.

If you have any questions about our services, or would like further information on the distillation process please contact us by emailing [email protected] or call us on 0845 006 3309.
