Liquid Cooling in Aeroplanes  

It is vital that aircraft engines have some form of cooling mechanism to avoid overheating and damage to the engine. Heat is generated whilst the engine is running, by cooling the device you will be protecting the integrity of your aeroplane.

Liquid cooling in aeroplanes is advantageous as it allows all cylinders in the engine to operate at the same temperature, resulting in more reliability, lower fuel consumption and a longer engine life. Most modern aeroplanes the are manufactured these days are liquid cooled. Distilled water is perfect for liquid cooling an engine as it is 100% pure and contains no nasty contaminants or minerals that could affect the life span of the machinery.

Many people say that liquid cooling an engine is far better than air-cooling an engine as it provides less of a hazard, however, liquid cooling is a lot heavier and can be a lot more complex than air-cooling.
