Distilled Water Debunked

Ever wondered what if the myths you have heard about distilled water or demineralised water true? There have been plenty myths about this type of purified water. This possibly derives from the famous debate around whether distilled water can be consumed or not.

The Distilled Water Company does not recommend distilled water for human consumption. This is due to our company policy, however, we are aware that other distilled water companies offer or recommend distilled water for human consumption.

  • One of the popular myths includes the idea that the process of distillation removes minerals in water, making it healthier for your body. Hence the reason, some companies state they do not recommend it for human consumption. This is still a highly debated myth.
  • Cooking in distilled water removes nutrients in food is definitely a myth. The fact of the matter is that cooking itself already loses nutrients that are in the food. However, if you cook with pure distilled water, contamination will be less and your food will taste better.
  • Distilled water weakens your teeth is a myth. Distilled water will not be bad for your oral health, however, be aware of drinking too much fluoride.
  • Distilled water tastes flat and has a funny taste because the water has been through a process. However, after drinking distilled water, normal water will taste funny.

    • There you have it! Interesting myths about distilled water. It is important to understand the process of creating distilled water. When traditional water is heated, it turns into vapour leaving behind all chemicals, inorganic minerals and impurities. It then reduces back to clean pure water.
