Many people do not know what pH represents, but those who do know that purified water has a neutral one. “P” in pH means power, and “H” – hydrogen. These two letters represent an equation of hydrogen ion concentration. This equation defines if a certain substance is acidic or alkaline. This range starts from 0 and goes to 14. 7 is the neutral number and this is what distilled water should measure at. If the numbers are lower than 7, then the substance is acidic, and it is alkaline when over 7. The number 7 in distilled water means that it consists purely of hydrogen and oxygen. But this water absorbs things from the outside, because when it goes under this purification it becomes very aggressive and strives to go back to its original state. So this water will most likely absorb carbon dioxide that is in the air, which will make it slightly acidic. Add 1/8 tablespoon of baking soda to one gallon of this water, and you will make it neutral again. The baking soda has a pH of 8. If the pH of a liquid is very low, it is very acidic and poisonous, like hydrochloric acid for example. Same goes if the numbers are too high, then the substance is alkaline and is also poisonous – ammonia for instance is 12.

Purified water is exactly what you need – pure pH neutral liquid.

Distilled water is not like ordinary water, so it requires special care. In order to derive this water, first you have to turn the regular water into vapour. This is done so you can get rid of all the impurities in it. Then the vapour is condensed and turned back into liquid form, but this time it is pure. Having distilled the water, it is now free of all minerals and nitrates. But it is now aggressive. This means that the water is de-mineralized and wants to go back to its original form and looks for any kind of substances to combine with. These substances can be found anywhere, and mostly in the container where you store the water. If you want to keep it pure, you have to know where to store it. There isn’t a container that is made of material that will not leak out when in contact with water after distillation. But glass proves to be the safest and with the minimal effect on it. If you receive your water in plastic containers and want to store it for long periods of time, we recommend you transfer it into glass containers.

Distilled water is special and you have to maintain the best storage conditions for it to last longer in its pure state.

If you want to show some magic tricks to your friends without actually buying magic equipment, you can easily do that with distilled water. There are many ways you can perform magic with water, but here are just a few of them.

1) Make water explode – all you need is to superheat water that has been distilled. Heat it up in the microwave in a very smooth container. When water is distilled it can reach a far greater heating temperature without boiling. Heat it up and then very carefully put a small object in the water – it will burst and explode – gushing water everywhere!

2) Water Bridge – using a cathode beaker and an anode beaker next to each other, a water bridge forms between the two and when you carefully put them apart at about 25 millimetres you will see that the bridge is still there!

3) Water and Whiskey switching places – this is a neat and easy trick you can play. Pour water in a shot glass and whiskey in another shot glass. Put a card over the water glass, then quickly turn it upside down and put it over the whiskey shot. Slowly start moving the card and soon enough you will see how water goes in the lower glass and whiskey makes its way through the upper glass. Whiskey is less dense than water that is why it goes to the top.

Magic is in everything around us, but if you want to astonish someone with a simple magic trick – use some distilled water!

Distilled Water is a great way to ensure that your home appliances work properly, but did you know it can also do magic? There are numerous great things that you can do right at home that will truly blow your mind. To start with, did you know that water that is distilled can actually explode?

Keep in mind that this is a bit dangerous so make sure that you have protective gear and are prepared for a bit of a wet mess. Water that is distilled can actually be overheated beyond boiling point and it will not show any signs like normal tap water would. These signs are the bubbles which are formed by a “seed” or a point where the bubbles are able to form. This “seed” in normal water is usually the minerals present in it, and since water that is distilled doesn’t have such minerals it shows no signs of boiling.

So where does the exploding come from? Well, if you place some water that is distilled in the microwave in a smooth container and heat beyond boiling point you will see that there are no signs of boiling. However, if you drop a foreign object in the water you will see the boiling process in a matter of a fraction of a second. Distilled water has many secrets, and we will reveal four more in the upcoming blogs. Make sure to have protective gear ready if you do try this at home!

So, you are a big fan of Halloween and are looking to really get into the mood this year with a spooky witches cauldron. First, you need to buy distilled water as it is the key element of the great creepy decoration.

Once you have your distilled water you can then look for a fog machine. These are rather easy to find around Halloween and at fairly low prices as well. Simply either look online or even at your nearby retail store, of course, in the Halloween section. Try and find one that offers coloured lights which will give the cauldron that extra spooky feel. While there also buy the cauldron if you don’t have one. They have fairly cheap plastic ones available, though if you already have your own you can use that as well. Also, check out some creepy decorations for the cauldron such as packaged spider web, they even have it glow in the dark.

Place two bricks at the bottom of the cauldron to ensure that it doesn’t move anywhere, plus they will serve as a pedestal for the water and fog machine. Then pour water in a pan and place the fog machine in it. Do a test run to see how often you need to refill the water. Buy distilled water in advance, and have plenty at hand to ensure that you don’t run out when you least expect it.

Distilled Water can help you ensure that your laptop screen is spotless. Get some 2 clean cotton cloths, isopropyl alcohol, distilled water, and cotton swabs. Make sure that you never try and clean your computer screen with an old rag or paper towels using tap water or other types of alcohols as this will leave streaks and may damage your screen.

Firstly, you will need to turn your monitor off, this will help see all the dirty marks. Take one of the cloths and use it to wipe any of the loose dust off of the screen and frame, and remember not to press to hard or scrub as it may damage the screen. Then make a solution using 50/50 distilled water and isopropyl alcohol and dampen the clean side of the cloth. Gently wipe the screen from top to bottom. In order to clean the edges of the screen use cotton swabs dipped in the solution and run them along the edges while rotating them to lift out the dirt. Finally, dampen the cloth again and wipe the screen to make sure that you remove any leftover dirt from the edges.

When done, simply use the second cloth to dry the screen. Distilled water is a great way to clean computer screens and many other electronics and appliances.

If you are a collector of coins then you definitely need to buy distilled water for making sure that they are perfectly clean. Here are several steps to ensuring that your collection is in perfect shape and always shiny. Initially what you need to do prepare your working space. Have a container with distilled water ready, towel to ensure that you don’t make a mess, and a soft brush. Gentle cleaning is key to keeping all of the details perfect. Scrub the dirty coin gently with the brush and then let it soak in the water for one or two days. This will help remove the loose dirt. Better take your time and do this several times over several days instead of rushing things because you may scrub important details from your coin. This is least destructive to the coin, and if it isn’t too dirty it should get it clean. One thing to remember is that if you have silver or bronze coins don’t soak them in the same water as it may change the colour of the metals. In our next blog post we will give you more tips to getting your coins perfectly cleaned if this method didn’t work for those that are too dirty. You will need to buy distilled water in order to do this as well.

As you may already know the summer is coming to an end which means that this is the perfect time to wash your windows till next summer. Purified Water is the ideal choice to wash your windows as it will keep them streak free. This may seem a little outrageous to buy Purified Water specifically for your windows but you’ll be surprised by the results.

Surely you have tried plenty of other ways of cleaning windows such as the typical store bought windows cleaners, newspapers, or special sponges. However, the answer is far simpler than you may think.

Before you start make sure you are ready, as you don’t want to have to run back and forth getting supplies while wet, plus it will ruin your overall rhythm. So, get a bucket filled with Purified Water, plus you can add a couple of cups of distilled vinegar to ensure total cleanness and disinfection. You will also need a couple of rags or paper towels and a squeegee if you have one. Also, get a garbage bag at hand so later the cleanup will be easier.

Now is the time to get those perfect spotless free windows before its too cold to stand outside to wash them. Also, don’t forget, you can use this same technique to wash your quality glassware or glass sculptures.

The exhibition is called “CIRCA 1986 – The 80′s From Six Important New York Art Collections”. This interesting exhibition will present 70 art works from more than forty artists from around the world. All of them created their best work between the period of ’81 and ’91 – an extremely successful time for artists. This period began with a roar and emerging of hundreds of new artists, but ended unfortunately with the art market collapse. Everything created in that time was classified as “neo”. Neo-expressionism, neo-surrealism, neo-Geo. The prices of art at that particular time were sky high. You can take the time to check a painting by Jasper John, called “Out the window” which was sold for two million dollars! Among other interesting pieces is one from Jeff Koons. It is called “Two ball 50/50 Tank”. A very unusual piece it is, because it resembles a fish tank, except there is no fish in it, but two orange basketballs floating in water that has been distilled. The art work is made of glass and steel. We did not know that this water can be used in art like that, but we were certainly pleasantly surprised.

Buy distilled water when you want to clean your camera. If you have to clean the display of your camera, either if it is your cell phone camera, or a professional one, you can use this water to achieve best results. This is how you clean your camera. First of all, if you have a digital camera, it lens might show up only when you turn it on. In this case, turn on the camera and brush the dust from the lens. You may do this with a special blower brush that you can buy in any photography store. Then spray some of the water that is distilled on a microfiber cloth and clean the lens. Make sure you do not apply too much pressure on the lens and on the display. But if you find a particular spot is hard to be wiped out put a little pressure on the microfiber cloth. If your camera has its lens protruding, like one of the professional cameras, turn it off and take out the batteries. In fact you should always do that if you have that chance to clean the lens without turning on the camera. This will prevent your camera from damage in case you pour water on it by accident. You can actually clean the insides of the camera with the wet cloth too.
